But <a href=\"https:\/\/altonbrown.com\/\">Alton Brown<\/a>&#8216;s recipe for Fish Sticks and Custard, from his recently released (and beautifully photographed) cookbook, <a href=\"https:\/\/altonbrown.com\/books\/everydaycook\/\"><em>EveryDayCook<\/em><\/a>, combines my abiding appreciation for Alton Brown&#8217;s approach to food with my undying love of all things <em>Doctor Who<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;\" title=\"Fish Sticks and Custard from Alton Brown's EveryDayCook\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/chrisbaer.net\/mp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/fish_sticks.jpg?resize=720%2C507&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"Fish Sticks and Custard from Alton Brown's EveryDayCook\" width=\"720\" height=\"507\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>To explain briefly, just understand that the Eleventh Doctor manifested a craving for this particular dish upon his regeneration, a telling and touching scene involving the young Amy Pond, and Alton Brown, as a card-carrying Whovian, saw fit to include this version in his cookbook:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>My version is different in that it&#8217;s actually tasty\u2026even if you don&#8217;t have two hearts and live in a blue box.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Note, too, that the dish is photographed upon the Fourth Doctor&#8217;s scarf. A nice homage to <em>Doctor Who<\/em> indeed.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s interesting to note that, up to the current point in the <a href=\"https:\/\/chrisbaer.net\/mp\/doctor-who-project\/\"><em>Doctor Who<\/em> Project<\/a> (Season Seven, Story Two, &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/chrisbaer.net\/mp\/2016\/10\/12\/doctor-who-project-doctor-who-and-the-silurians\/\">Doctor Who and the Silurians<\/a>,&#8221;), food has played a very minor role in the series. There&#8217;s been <a href=\"https:\/\/chrisbaer.net\/mp\/2014\/12\/14\/doctor-who-project-the-moonbase\/\">the odd poisoned coffee<\/a> and more than a few cuppas, but as yet, no stories with much gustatory focus. Indeed, thus far in the re-watch, I&#8217;m not sure if we&#8217;ve even seen the Doctor eat anything besides a very hard candy.
